With the pond Comeyed out and in a state of disMay - oh the heartbreak, the sorrow for nattering Ned - the pond was in need of a light break, a KitKat for the mind.
What better way to end a Friday than with some hard-hitting reporting from a stern Sharri in a premium article?

That splash portrait of the mad Mullah reminded the pond to ask when was the last time the Terror ran a portrait of mad Xians? There's plenty of room for a few laughs ... like this ...
... or this ...
Here for a hearty meal of creationism, but let's face it, the Terror is for crusaders, so creationists are likely welcome, there being many points of affinity between creationists and climate science denialists.
Back in your box Xian fundamentalists, because the pond must get now get down with Sharri and Officeworks, doing its very best to engage with Muslims with big ideas...

Uh huh ... now Sharri is an impeccable and balanced reporter, and every time she turns up in the Terror to deliver a stern savaging, the pond knows it to be true ...
What chance then that she'd match her talk of the nonsense the mad Mullahs spruik with equal alarm about the way that fundie mainstream Xians (and mad Scientologists and cults of the Exclusive Brethren kind) get government funding and teach distorted nonsense in the classroom...
Would it help the Terror avoid the impression that its only remit was Islamophobia and Islamic bashing?
Don't they all deserve a good thumping, on the evidence here ...(with active links, screen cap only below)... might Sharri pause to wonder about the role all religions play in schools?

Sorry, while the dedicated secularist or atheist might suggest a pox on all their houses, Sharri only has eyes for the pesky Islamics ...
Well yes, and let's not talk to the Catholics about abortion and birth control, but the bigger question is why governments provide money for any and all religious education, and if they do, why they don't crack the whip more to insist that the delusions are kept to after hours moments - an impossibility of course, but at least there might be some attempt to herd the deluded cats into some kind of corral ...
After all the issue's been hanging around like a bad smell for a long time, as here ...
And it's still going on, as here, but behind the Crikey paywall ...
Sorry, the Terror and Sharri only have eyes for sending up the mad Mullahs ...
Such a clever stereotype, but sadly, here's simply no room for other eccentricities ...
And so it went for the rest of Sharri's agitated piece about the Islamics ...
Now up there earlier, the pond made reference to Peter Hastie, dad of the hasty Pastie who is now a federal MP, who has refused to disavow his father and creationism.
Should the pond be alarmed? After all, there's a lot more Xians in country than Islamics, and this seems to suggest there are a few fundamentalists in the Liberal party currently governing Australia and determining what happens in relation to such matters as gay marriage.
Sorry, there was simply no room for talk of this or of any aspect of Australian schooling, presumably because everything's been fixed since 2010 (here, reptiles, so paywall affected) ...
Uh huh. But none of this is of any concern. All we have to do is worry about the barking mad Islamics teaching wayward theological nonsense ...
Uh huh, and talking of talk that radicalises the pond with its dangerous fundamentalism ...
Here and here for those ... and the pond thanks the sharp-eyed Sharri for another great report featuring the rather large mote in the crusading Terror's eye ...
Speaking of weird countries saturated with fundamentalist creationists and devotees of weird religions, Rowe offered up this cartoon today, with more exemplary Rowe here ...
And then the pond thought, why stop with a Rowe?
Why not have a cartoon or three more, gorging away, a bit like sitting down in front of the telly with a pack of delicious Oreos rabbiting on about the glories of western civilisation ...

Oh yes, and a special place for this cartoon, showing, as only fundamentalist Xian bigots can, the root of all evil ...
Expect a story about this next week by Sharri in the Terror? Laugh because you're dreaming ...
Sharri: "Some Islamic schools do not teach music."
ReplyDeleteAs if the majority of state schools teach music.
Wow: 'systematic theology and apologetics' - it must be a hoot to sit through one of the Hasty Pasty(snr)'s lectures at Presbyterian Theological College!
ReplyDeleteSorry to interrupt a thread on Australia's finest education reporter, but I just had my attention drawn to this tweet.
ReplyDeleteI did check, and it is apparently, and unironically real. Pardon my computer's French. The Botherer in Chief is referencing google maps re-naming of Margaret Court.

Instead of renaming Australian places and unpersoning Australian icons, how about paying more Australian tax?
