Out and about and strolling down the streets of the inner west today, and while most the passers-by had the deep haunted look of people forced to race about hunting for Xmas presents - the count down is in the last minute to midnight - there were also some bright eyed and bushy tailed proselytizers out hunting for converts.

Yep, the CEC has landed in Newtown, Sydney, Oztralia, and ain't it great to see the fevered workers doing their best to save the planet by spreading the word.

Sure the shot of Adolf Hitler might strike a discordant note for the squawking minority of lefties who somehow associate Adolf with the extreme right, when we all know he was a National Socialist, and even entered into a pact with communist Russian and uncle Joe Stalin.

Okay the woman putting out the sign for the Newtown mission, with its exciting Revelation Ceiling smiled at us and said a cheerful hello, but that doesn't count as missionary activity.

Across the way it looked like there were a couple of lefties trying to solve the world's problems, but it was a pretty feeble effort up against the materialistic consumption of a trendy inner city capitalist kind.

You know, I suddenly had a vision - well where would we be unless we all had saintly Mary MacKillop visions - whereby King street might become a veritable new domain, a speakers corner, where anyone and everyone can get on a soapbox and try to convert the unwashed masses as they walk past.

Like a new tower of babel mebbe. Where everyone can speak in different tongues.

Memo to self: must pitch this idea to Clover Moore. Only way to save the planet. Need funding from Sydney City Council. Perhaps a grant. Thinking a 100k to do an exploratory scope, and a report, with at least a hundred findings, a k a finding, then 500k to purchase wooden crates and convert them in to post-modernist soapboxes in the Carriage Works.
