In which the bromancer delivers quantity … so the pond can ball tamper the quality ...

The pond just wanted to set the mood … this Sunday being a chance to catch up with the latest thinking of the bromancer, always inclined to the eccentric, the eclectic, the diverse and the perverse …

He is, after all, a lad ready to embrace the Donald and the Donald's paranoid xenophobia and wall-building desire to keep out foreigners, while, without a hint of contradiction, celebrate the idea of populating or perishing, without a single thought paid to the notion that perhaps the world in over-populating  might also manage to perish … or without wondering whether there might be other arguments for immigration … other than the need to put the nation on a war-mongering footing of populate or perish ...

Of course the other reasons - diversity, a plurality which provides sparks and energy - are entirely at odds with reptile thinking, smacking as it does of that dreadful condition known as "multiculturalism."

The arguments that best work with reptile devotees are fear, and loathing, and paranoid imaginings, and national security … because everything should be put on a war footing, and the sooner the better …

We must have border security, and then we can invite in the people we like, and that's all.

The pond should have realised where the bromancer would go ...

The entire piece probably won't mention South African farmers - how to pretend to be high and mighty when Australian cricketers are a pack of cheats? - but it's going to be an explanation of why South African farmers is just what the country needs … because …

Well, just look north, because the clouds are gathering, or have gathered, and there's a storm ahead, and remember we're all boy scouts, even if we're guides … be prepared or be scared ...

Indeed, indeed, a bigger country, but a country full of the right sort of folk.

This wasn't how it worked for the United States of course … all sorts of persecuted people from all sorts of places tumbled into the country pell mell from all over the place, and provided it with the sort of diverse energy it's been trading off ever since.

Entertainment remains one of the country's strongest exports, and the movie game was started by as diverse a bunch of characters as a London down and out (Chaplin) to a Hungarian apprentice furrier (Adolph Zukor) to that Minskian Russki Louis B Mayer

What a bunch of frauds and hustlers they were, and none of them would likely have passed the John Howard test …but now, back to the paranoia about the Asians to the north, and the need for the rights sort of folk and the right sort of armaments and kit … because if the Poms talk of kit, then we know we're being kitted in the right direction ...

Now pay attention to that talk of a quality defence force, because it will come in handy down the track ...

There's nothing like the bromancer to get the pond going …while the wiki nerds argue over Stalin, other nerds joke that Eubulides is alleged to have said a quantitative change in the number of grains of sand leads to a qualitative change in being a heap or not …

The Marxists drew a blank, but at least there's a hint where the bromancer draws his confusions and his inspirations from ...

The phrase has been popular in the US defense community since the 1980s, sometimes acknowledging it as a US coinage, but often misattributing it to Clausewitz, Lenin, Stalin, and Brezhnev, but mostly to Stalin.

And why is the dear lad confused? Well it could be that he argues for quality armaments as a way of defeating the yellow hordes from the north (subs, ships etc), while proposing that somehow a quantity of 40 million is going to change the nature of the heap up against the quality of an odd billion or more …

Oh okay, the pond is convinced. If the Donald approves, then it's perfectly obvious … we need those South African farmers - they probably won't be ball-tamperers and cheats - but can we please make sure it doesn't include the likes of that New Zealand comic who sounds alarmingly alternative

One joke goes like this: "I've just got my citizenship," she tells the audience. "Are there any immigrants here? And when people put their hands up I say: 'oh yeah? Then get the f*** outta my country, you're stealing our jobs!'
"In other words," she points out, even New Zealanders are "casually racist. We just like to keep it at a socially acceptable level. And we all do it, so it's okay".

And now, since the bromancer is okay, and since the Donald has been mentioned - where would the bromancer be without reminding us that the Donald is usually right at least twice a day? - the pond feels justified in running a few Donald cartoons …

  1. Bromancer: "Menzies and Howard and even Malcolm Fraser were nation builders." Oh, but not Joe Ben Chifley, of course, oh no, not him.

Now let me see: J B Chifley's government began the Snow scheme in 1949 with an immigrant workforce - eventually, up to its completion in 1972, migrants of 30 different nationalities made up 65% of the total workforce of 100,000 over the construction period. Just a little bit of description:

The scale of ‘the Snowy’ was enormous. Over the course of the project, the workforce built seven power stations, 16 dams, 80 kilometres of aqueducts, 145 kilometres of tunnels and 1600 kilometres of roads and railway tracks.

But clearly, Menzies (what did he build ? Yes, alright, at least he did finish the Snowy, but what else ? He didn't even bring GMH to Australia - that too was Chifley), Howard (what did he build ?) and Fraser (what did he build ?) are our great "nation builders"

"The arguments that best work with reptile devotees are fear, and loathing, and paranoid imaginings, and national security …"

    Spot on DP, spot on.

But then, shouldn't the reptiles and devotees be seriously wanting humanity to 'populate the Earth' lest we all perish in an Alien invasion ? They are coming, aren't they - a red and brown dwarf pair (Scholz's Star and its mate) came within about 0.82 light years of Earth only 70,000 years ago and seriously stirred up the Oort Cloud and maybe the Kuiper Belt a bit and flung some space junk in our direction !

We won't even begin to be able to survive until we get to a total human population on Earth of at least 100 billion (but fortunately that's only a couple of centuries away).

"...Australian cricketers are a pack of cheats".

But surely we knew that ever since an internationally celebrated bit of under-handedness ?

Bromancer: "Ben Chifley and Menzies knew ... that we had to "populate or perish"."

Right, so how much population do we need ? Say, 300 million to be on a par with America - and yet still woefully underpopulated compared with Indonesia, Brazil, Nigeria, Pakistan, India and China ? After all, if we only aim for say Fraser's 50 million, then what will Indonesia's population be in the 75 years (at 1 million immigrants plus births every three years) that will take us ?

And what would that mean ? So, if instead we hype up to say 2 million immigrants every year, then it would still take us 150 years to get to 325 million. It would take 50 years just to get to 125 million.

And where would we get the money to buy enough food to feed that many (remember we grow and process enough food for only about 75 million per year). And where would Planet Earth get the farmland to grow enough food for that many ? And also get the water to feed the farms and for all of us to drink ?

Bromancer: "If our immigration program were to stay at its current proportionate rate we would get near to 38 million - just about Canada's population today - by 2050."

And if we do, this country will no longer be Australia; it might be Chindianesia, but it won't be Australia. I guess all the remaining Anglos will have to migrate to Canada then. Not that it will matter to me, I'll be long gone, but is there anybody here who's expecting to be still living in Australia in 32 years time ?

Bromancer: "Glenn Withers points me to a more sophisticated model ... which shows big per capita income gains from Australia's immigration program."

Oh goody, so all of the 38 million Chindiannesians will be rich ! Or maybe just a relative few oligarchic billionaires will be incredibly rich, just like everywhere else on Planet Earth.

  2. Yes the lying rodent was not in any sense a nation builder. He helped set of a process, namely the Orwellian never-ending war against terror which has wasted billions of dollars.
He never ever facilitated any of the necessary infrastructure projects to accommodate our growing population. Instead he wasted all of the proceeds of the mining boom on "welfare" handouts including highly subsidized "health" insurance for those who were already well off, and wealthy too.
Most/all of the problems with balancing-the-budget are the direct result of those handouts. It is now an almost impossible task to end, or even limit those handouts.
One thing that he did do was provide ample funds for the Veteran Affairs department to produce all kinds of jingoistic propaganda provided to ALL schools promoting the Anzac "legend".

  3. Gough Whitlam History will be written favourably and rightly so, but this small minded creep will be easily forgotten as he is a parasite hanging on to his masters shirt tails to keep afloat in a sea of selective memory.
