In which the pond goggles at the informed analysis of the Major Mitchell ...

What joy for the pond on a holyday Monday ... the Major Mitchell remains on the beat, and he's here to reassure the world about pesky furriners owning dinkum media, and perhaps, the google splash suggests, even their ability to make a profit out of it ...

Relieved and relaxed, the pond was able to do a quick tour of foreign-owned media outposts in Australia ...

The lizards of Oz continued on their splendid way, charting the way SSM was ruining everything ...

Meanwhile over at the Terror, little Timmie Bleagh was lining up with the fundamentalist Catholics and Islamics, as he so often does ...

Indeed, indeed, inside every little Timmie Bleagh is a lover of Franco and fundamentalist Catholicism screaming to get out ...

And how pleasing to see the Bolter do yet another jeremiad. What a fine Jeremiah he is, and what fun for Comrade Bill to read his daily yarns about how they're doomed, they're doomed I tells ya ...

However the pond was shocked to discover that the Terror was quite rhapsodic about that song, and its reception, though Nine apparently helped out by running a 'no' ad adjacent ... (the pond didn't see, and so can merely report third hand) ...

Yet another triumph for the onion muncher ...

But enough of rainbows, it's time to get down and gritty real with the Major Mitchell ...

Ten was/is a left-leaning network on the basis of one departed reporter and one show?

Once again the Major's remarkable capacity to ferret out an Order of Lenin for his Chairman is on display ...

Speaking of the chairman, the pond had thought that Ten was clearly leftist because of the way it ran the satirical animated products of a foreign owned network ...

Speaking of damned furriners, there's an elephant in the Major Mitchell's room ...

Let's see who could scribble immortal words like "it is no doubt a shame another Australian brand has been sold offshore because of the inability of politicians to sort out rational reform of the media industry."

Uh huh ... "no doubt a shame"?

Is that a shorthand way of saying shameless, as pond contemplates a few onetime Australian and a bunch of other brands owned offshore by a damned furriner?

And so to the happy conjunction of the Major Mitchell making a peace-offering between two bunches of furriners, while purporting to shed a tear about the shame of it all ...

So there you go, a deal's a deal and business is business, and furriners can keep on dividing up the spoils and working together ...

As usual the pond was left blinded by the light of the Major's analysis, but it's no wonder the subtleties of the Major's analysis always escapes the pond.

Anyone who can see Gogglebox as a superior product, even when flung up against Being Lara Bingle, has a sophisticated understanding of the media that is light years beyond the pond's feeble understanding ...

But then it takes tremendous skill in a piece ostensibly about foreign ownership to never once mention that the Major's chairman and owner is a furriner ...

And incidentally a furriner who did much to help deliver the Donald to the world, a matter of rejoicing for late night comedians and cartoonists around the world, with David Rowe once again on the job this day, and with more Rowe here ...
