In which the pond joins Cory and the Oreo to stop the globalist agenda ...

At first the pond doubted the sighting. It seemed too much like a Graudian wet dream (for the hot links), or nightmare...

Antisemitic, paranoid, white nationalist, in short downright weird and strange, the stuff of the barking mad, tweeting at the moon, linking George Soros to SSM in Australia as part of a globalist agenda ...

Like the punk in dirty Harry, the disbelieving pond hadsta know and sure enough ...

It was real, it was actual ...but damned if the pond will link to it ...

At that moment, the pond realised how deeply embittered Cory had become since the pond dropped him from the masthead in favour of the onion muncher ... clearly, he'll do and say and tweet anything completely insane to get back to the pole position ...

But what a way to set the mood - waiter, dim the atmospheric lighting - for an Oreo treat this Monday ...

Now right from the get go, there's a hook. Is the barking mad Oreo suggesting that she and Cory and the gang of far right loonish ratbags clustered around represent the rise of centrism?

Naturally the pond was compelled ...

No matter how it scrutinised the runes, it didn't seem clear. Was Cory the coming hero or the anti-Christ?

The pond decided to have a quick snack before proceeding ...

By golly, now's the time for the Oreo to take a stand, and provide a ringing endorsement of Cory and all he stands for ... not least barking mad world conspiracy theories involving George Soros ...

It's a technical call, but the pond has to deem that Oreo a fail and a foul.

She could have come right out and said that Cory was her man, and his values were her values, but she fudged. Sure she dog whistled and celebrated the values man, but there was a little too much of the flip flop and ambivalent air in that last line, "The final result of the same-sex marriage will reveal what values matter most to Australia."

Does she realise the danger George Soros poses to Australia? Is she onside or isn't she? Will she join the pond and Cory to stop the globalist agenda?

Why she wasted endless hours wandering down memory lane and blathering about Ronnie Raygun, and Europe, when there are far more pressing matters to take a stand on, right here, right now ... and if George Soros isn't one of them, then the pond is on the wrong planet ...

Talk about a half-baked Oreo ...this is no time to attempt, in heads or tails style, to be marshmallow and crispy when the bananas are splitting!

Never mind, as usual, it's all just an excuse to run a Rowe cartoon, and as usual the prescient one has an entirely relevant cartoon, with more Rowe here ...

  1. For once I agree with the oreo, who says "the prospects for enlightened conservatism appear dim."

Perhaps she meant to say "the prospects for dim conservatism appear enlightened."

  2. Oreo is understandable if you substitute the word "privilege" for all uses of the word "freedom".

  3. I get this strange buzzing in my head when I try to read these pieces. I think it is the mishmash of contradictory concepts jammed next to one another & the blatant historical revisionism.

"Enlightened conservatism" - is that a thing? As practised in a Australia it is more like an unenlightenment. Even the "silent majority" got a run - not only silent but invisible. I don't think "liberal conservatism" got a guernsey , but I may have missed it in there.

On the bright side, it seems that if I disagree with her I must be part of an "elite" - certainly an easier pathway than attending to your studies, getting a degree etc

  5. Reagan was of course the original exponent of fake news. The catalyst for the ever-expanding growth of fake news, and the appearance of the no nothing tea-party movement too.

  6. Remember the anecdotes - like the B17 pilot going down with the plane rather than abandon the trapped belly gunner. Turned out to be based on a movie not any reported incident. Interestingly, the trapped gunner moved around in various Reagan iterations. In one, it is the waist gunner trapped in a turret - Eh??? Another story is from his high school football days where Reagan's inherent honesty causes his team to loose the game. Needless to say - also apocryphal. The only game matching the description was a huge loss, so honesty or otherwise paid no roll in the outcome.

Buggers me why people (well Americans) lap this stuff up. Confirmation bias I guess - they are looking for something to validate their views & don't really care if it is true or not. So you are correct - fake news
