The pond was delighted by the comments word-counting prattling Polonius attracted - pedantry is always its own reward - even if it came at the expense of the pond's business model, since there's nothing more likely to guarantee a remarkable evaporation of clicks than the mere mention of Polonius's name (as for the suffering of those who listened to old Baldy, what to say, except that anyone who listens to Geraldine is called on to suffer mightily - don't say the pond didn't warn you).
Dragging Polonius out from behind the arras also came at the expense of other important matters, not least that remarkable splash featuring the bromancer himself ...
Please allow the pond to repeat it, savour it and roll it around on the tongue, before it hits the back palate with a mighty whack, and then lingers like the smell of cat's piss ...
The PM has proved himself a worthy heir to John Howard and Tony Abbott.
Remarkable.
Now you won't find the pond being simple-minded and egregious in this way. There's no way, for example, that any sane person could type a line about former Chairman Rudd being a worthy heir to Ben Chifley and John Curtin, or Bob Hawke and Paul Keating ...
The Ruddster was a duddster, and his continued moaning about the UN is an eloquent explanation as to why, in a way that makes punditry irrelevant ...
So how could the bromancer - admittedly always profoundly delusional - think it was praise to compare Malware to Tony Abbott, when Abbott was a notorious dud, possibly even worse than Rudd, certainly the worst Liberal PM since the days of Holt and McMahon, and in line for the worst Liberal PM ever ...
How could this abject failure be seen as an exceptional progenitor producing worthy heirs?
The answer comes in the Google splash ...
It's got nothing to do with history, it's got to do with the way that Malware has fallen into line with the shirt-fronting, breast-beating, prognathous-jawed Neanderthals of the hard right ...
Naturally the bromancer was right into this simian ground-thumping ...
Now let's not mind at the way that the bromancer and his ilk - war criminal John Howard and his cabinet of criminals, including, it has to be said, the onion muncher - set in motion the current ongoing turmoil in the middle east, and so were a large cause of the problem (with the residue of colonialism and dictators aping the colonial way a handsome contributing factor in Africa).
Let's get down to some of the remarkably careless and cruel aspects of the bromancer's telling of the tale ...
Indeed, indeed, because comrade Hun Sen is the very last person to indulge in political persecution ...
But in a way this sort of idle chatter pleases the pond, because it puts to bed all that Christian nonsense about the good samaritan and never knowing when there's an angel in your midst and all the rest of the clap trap.
It also puts to bed all that nonsense about the Titanic. It's a safe bet that as the world runs into assorted icebergs, the bromancer and the onion muncher will travel in the J. Bruce Ismay style ...
The pond marvelled at the optimism of Samantha Power in the NYRB scribbling:
If one way to respond to this shift is through the thicker involvement in - and knowledge of - the world beyond our own borders, another is through investing more deeply in the partnerships and capacities needed to confront contemporary threats that, by their very nature, require a global response. The need for alliances is of course nothing new. For as long as the state has existed, diplomats have recognized the need to build partnerships beyond borders to protect their interests. But what is distinct about many of the problems we face today is that a coalition or alliance of powerful countries cannot solve most of these problems. For climate change to be stopped - and for its myriad economic, security and environmental consequences to be averted - it's not enough just for the United States and Europe to bring down our emissions. To prevent terrorists from attacking our citizens, we cannot simply keep them from gaining a foothold in the countries that are our partners ...
And so on and on, simply failing to understand that in fortress Australia, all that's required is a bowl of water and a towel (wouldn't want to have wet hands). But of course to get to this position of carefree lack of care and compassion requires some careful word-smithing, and blaming of the victims ...
And the pond particularly enjoyed this assessment of the people who turned up in Germany as a result of the Syrian crisis ...
The pond could of course show a picture of a three year old Syrian boy of Kurdish ethnic background dead on a beach as a retort, but even the pond can't sink to the base level of a bromancer discussion.
Well who wouldn't want to pause from the demonising and the Dutton worship to celebrate the epic work of Ned Kelly?
A dynamic social policy of racism ...
It was around this point that the pond felt a bit of a First Dog cartoon kicking in ...
Yes, that feels about right ... and so to the last gobbet of bromancer ...
Before the rising tide of nausea set in, the pond rushed off to the rest of that First Dog, safe in the knowledge that more First Dog could be found here ...
Next week: the bromancer explains how Pauline Hanson is in fact the fault of the left, and that Islamics deserve everything they cop, because ... Islamic terrorism ... and how Australia can add brand new historic achievements to the exemplary White Australia policy ...
