In which the pond runs wild and free with the horses, then salivates as it savours a simpering Savva ...

It was a toss-up which was the more moving spectacle in this day's reptile la la land headlines ...

Sure, that offered the pond the chance to rip one of Bill Leak's bloody arms orfff ...

... so he could experience a proper burst of decent Islamic terrorism ...

Such an ineffably stupid man.

But what about the Terrorists going all lyrical about the banishment of coal, and the horses running wild and free amongst the idyllic greenery ...

Strange, was it only a little while ago in days of yore, and coal, coal, coal for the world that the Terror was in terrorising mode?

Poor old Stephen. Where is he now? Please, maestro, a little John Lennon music if you please, so we might imagine ...

And so on and tediously on, but instead of imagining a Daily Terror front page where a heroic stallion is poised to mount a mare in the lush green coal-free valley (well apart from the mountains of the moon that have torn the valley apart), the pond has to cut Stephen short because today is the day where the pond gets the inside gen, direct from Malware's operational field HQ ...

Yes, it's simpering Savva day, where the infinite wisdom of Malware is explained to simpletons.

Of course it's always dressed up as an independent report, but it's as sure a guide as any on how things are going in the Malware bunker ...

Poor old Josh, please bend over, and sweetly say, please sir or madam, may I have another ...

And so much for the sensible discussion of energy policy and climate science in this country, or as Wilcox memorably put it and already featured on these pages ...

And so to the rest, as the salivating pond savours the terribly objective simpering Savva ...

Why it was almost as moving as wild horses running free, or the sight of Bill Leak going over the top and out of metaphorical sight ...

But speaking of the desperate in search of attention, who should pop up talking of energy than the onion muncher himself ...

Sound familiar, as a bear with very little brain repeats himself endlessly?

2014! And still we keep copping the same siren song ...

A stupid, irrelevant man, trying desperately to sound populist ... but look, right at the very bottom of that report, put together by climate science expert Lloydie and the helpful Rick, came this little hoppy toad ...

You won't find any talk of networks and governments jacking up prices significantly when irrelevant fuckwits hog cable space to blather about carbon taxes being a pain in the pocket, will you?

Never mind, it's all for the best in the best of all possible managerial worlds ... by the way, how's the NBN going?

Uh huh ... the pond has recently been in the peculiar situation of switching ISPs and discovering it cost less to rent broadband, if a landline was included in the package. Yes, if you took what you didn't want, they'd cut the cost.

Even better, it was twenty dollars bucks a month less if Foxtel was connected.

That's right, they'd refund twenty bucks a month, just so Foxtel could say it had another customer...

Why, that's an even better business model than the reptiles giving away their tree killer edition for free at airport lounges ...

As for the rest of the mug punters ...

Or they could just pay you back twenty bucks so you could agree to allow Satan's Foxtel into the house ...

Yes, the current NBN process is totally stuffed, and those caught in the inner west Sydney hell of copper and HFC must jump from frying pan to fire, and it's all a managerial hoot in Malware's la la land ...

And yet supportive simpering Savva somehow imagines he'll do better next year, as if the NBN disaster hadn't already shown just how strong his managerial skills really are ...

A pragmatic, diligent deal-maker?

Oh come on, pull the other one, and now, for anyone strong enough to have made it this far, a restorative papal blessing from the infallible Pope, and more papal joy here ...

  1. Affordable energy capital of the world? Affordable? We give the stuff away for next to nothing, or indeed for nothing as corpoarate susidies, taxes, and royalty revenues are a joke. And who approved that?

The fairly new "major gas-fired (huge jet turbine) power station near Brisbane" is on the edge of Ipswich and is fed by pipeline from the Darling Downs a coupe hundred kilometers away. It is a beauty, clean, one of the biggest and best in the world and, according to the American manufacturer, had an operating record better than any. Can Do Newman's government mothballed it and reopened a large out-dated, inefficient, and filthy coal fired powerstation in central Queensland to cover the power generating deficit. Palashay now is no better.

Indeed it was was mothballed due to the high price then expected for exported gas on completion of the construction of the huge Gladstone gas exporting port. The government QUANGO decided to leave the gas in the ground until it could be exported (now) for a pittance in revenue, but at large profit to multi-national corporates.. Japanese buyers of Australian gas would like to re-export it back to Australia. If their contracts allowed it they could do so, make excellent profits, and still undercut the ridiculous Australian gas price by more than half at least!

Australia is not the affordable energy capital of the world. That would imply the energy would have to be purchased from the supplier and not simply given away, but Australia is the cheapest of jokes.

  2. Pope has it right in his cartoon today. The Lying Nasty Party in COALition with their cronies wants to perform the same heist that their neoliberal mate Narendra Modi has just pulled off in India.

All those hundred dollar notes, government IOUs, huge government financial obligations, all gone at a stroke. No trickle up this, a massive transfer of net wealth upwards from from the pockets of the people, and, relatively, also to their one percenter cronies. Yesterday, Kelly O'Dwyer could hardly contain her excitement at the prospect...
