Speaking of rats ...

The pond hesitates to accuse prattling Polonius of plagiarism, even if the pond had days ago nominated Billy Hughes and Joe Lyons as two top-notch rats …

Troy Bramston, while admitting that the arm-breaker was a pathetic low-class rat, had also recanted and joined the pond in the search for genuine first class king rats …

And everywhere across the land there was joyous talk of rats, though the pond didn't particularly like the very large rat that scuttled across the floor a day or so ago - a phenomenon that follows whenever the neighbours decide to decamp, and cut off the rat's supply of cat food …

Is it polite to mention to neighbours that they shelter rats? Even if the talk of rats runs wild on the full to overflowing intertubes ...

Rats everywhere, but then the Terror has always loved a good dinkum rat …

But memories are short in the Murdochians and so it's on with Polonius …and any passing stray reader is invited to offer details of the historical - some might say historic - errors that Polonius manages to accumulate in his short distilled, distorted view of the past …

Well of course it's a comedy, celebrating Sky News and talking of how political hatred runs deep in the ALP, when in reality the Murdochians love a rat and the rattus norvegicus comes in all forms …

But back to the historical - some might say historic - errors ...

Ah you might take the Polonius away from the Santamaria, but you can't take the Santamaria out of the Polonius … he really is still heavily into the DLP ...

And now for a sponsor's message ….

It has to be said that some of the Terror's artwork is beyond the valley of the pathetic, but the pond wanted a short break before plunging on with our Gracie...

Prattling Polonius and our Gracie all in one hit?

It'll be too much for many, far too rich a form of cheese, but the pond wanted to get the weekend off to a flying start with much talk of rats …

Naturally our Gracie loves rats, and never mind that dressing up this king rat means dressing up One Nation and Pauline Hanson, our Gracie is happy to keep company with the rats ...

Google the clip? Well so much for subscribing to Sky …

No wonder poor old Polonius was sensitive about Sky's situation and the abysmal situation that Foxtel faces …

Rats … and more at Mumbrella here

And now back to our Gracie pumping up the arm-breaker to eleven ...

Latham is a perfect 10? Any airtime he offers will be greedily gobbled up?

Perhaps in our Gracie's world, where breaking a taxi-driver's arm is something most Sydney-siders contemplate every so often …

Heaven forfend that the pond might note that the arm-breaker long ago lost mainstream relevance, and these days spends an enormous amount of attention doing a donkey, and screeching "Pick me, oh pick me …"

As for the Swiss bank account man having something to lose? What on earth is she blathering about? As if Richo's got much to lose, having spent 18 hours in surgery and looked cancer and death in the eye.

And the present state of politics is the arm-breaker's main concern? And Pauline Hanson and One Nation is the solution?

The pond realises that the conventional image of our Gracie is a sweet one, where butter wouldn't melt in the mouth …

But actually our Gracie is a nasty piece of work, and delusional as well …

Remember Troy recalling the king rat's attempt to regain relevance by offering himself for Hume?

Our Gracie saying the present state of politics is the arm-breaker's main concern is a bit like saying that all the onion muncher's recent outings have been to do with policy concerns and nothing whatsoever to do with personal bitterness, narcissism, a deep sense of irrelevance and hostility and hatred of Malware … (in king rat emergency break glass and substitute comrade Bill for Malware).

Truth to tell, our Gracie is demonstrating the classic syndrome of all rat lovers …the rat enemy of my rat enemy is my friend, and some rats make jolly good company if you have rattish inclinations ...

In the shell game of life, anyone spruiking the Donald and Mark Latham as making the government work for the people are mice ready for the trap …

Speaking of which, the pond must really go and set another trap, and check the level of the bait …

… but not before fondly remembering the good old days of other rats, thanks to the Pope, with more current Pope to hand here, though the lad seems to be taking a short break …

I have to sadly confess that my personal knowledge of the rat generations (Hughes, Lyons, Lang etc), is minimal at best, DP. It wasn't something I pursued with any vigour. So yes, it'd be just spiffing if some readers could enlighten us all. Haven't heard from FrankD in a while, but I reckon he'd be a good source if he's awake.

But I do have a small query: why isn't Obeid (and mates ?) a 'king rat' ? Didn't he betray Labor ? And what about Bob Carr who spinelessly indulged and sheltered him ? I'd call Carr a 'king rat' myself, except that I guess he's really just too insignificant to be worthy of 'kingship'.
