The pond doesn't usually do creepy, though it does have a fondness for cults ...
Given the current dire emergency, with the Oreo, the Major Mitchell, little Timmie Bleagh, and many other reptiles still doing hagiographic tear-sodden memories of Leak, the pond had to look around for any port in a storm.
Of course there are any number of easy options ... Freedom Boy always likes attention ...
And everybody knows he loves a Coopers ...
But everyone knows he's a lickspittle panderer, and besides that talk of PHON ineluctably drew the pond back to a different kind of creepy ...
For a moment there, the pond thought Freedom Boy was talking about a unit of sound, the Phon, but it was as if Freedom Boy was reminding the pond of the way it had felt the creepy on the weekend ...
Ah the master Svengali ... ready when you are Mr De Mille ...please, make my close-up look good, you know a single Oldfield scribbling for the reptiles can do terrible things to the human spirit ...
Well the pond said it would be creepy, it didn't say it would be great cinema.
And so to the great Oldfield at his best, political weevils manufactured by a master of the art.
So that's how it ends for the "fomers" ... snarking on the sidelines for the reptiles of Oz, while his creation stalks the earth infatuated with a new Svengali...
... though perhaps the message is clear enough ... if only the old Svengali still ran the show and created a party (or a reich) that might last a thousand years ...
Well the pond said it would be creepy, it didn't say it would be great movie-making. But at least the pond avoided all the reptiles leaking tears all over the departed Leak ...
Happily all this could have been said in a single cartoon, and happily Rowe said it, and more Rowe here ...
But as we're speaking of movies, that Rowe cartoon reminded the pond of other road trips and other kinds of road kill ...
Well the pond promised creepy, not a great movie ...
Hi Dorothy
