In which, thanks be to Niall, it's revealed that teh Donald isn't a fascist, except when he is ...

After that little light HUNstr photoshopped humour to get proceedings underway, the pond confesses it fell into the folly of reading the completely useless Niall Niall orange peel once again ...

It will be recalled by devotees of loonacy that there has been a great debate going on ..

And the pond wasted precious moments of valuable life, oh cruel and fleeting time, reading Niall Niall lemon peel calling for a beard count as evidence of what he says ...

And so on and so forth ...

But that was a week ago, and this week, Niall Niall grapefruit peel has changed his tune a little ... doing a form of alternative history ...

Of course, of course. It's all the fault of the Democrats. The pond should have known ... hmm, time for a little refresher and extender with some of that gripping HUNster brand of humour ...

What cards they are, as if we needed photoshop ...

There, much better, and a proud Queenslander ...

But back to Niall Niall mandarin peel, because surely the only reason to read his alternative history will be to see how far off the mark it might prove to be. Well given the way his reading of actual history is frequently in error, it's a fair bet that his alternative history will be even more wildly wrong ...

Oh wait, the pond can see where this is heading ...

Uh huh.

Within a week, we've gone from Donald Trump isn't a fascist, he's a populist ... (check the beard count) ...

... to Donald Trump isn't just a populist, he's an incipient fascist ... (have another shot)

And that's how you get two columns for the price of two ...

And that's how the pond came to understand that even when attempting a display of alternative wit, Niall Niall orange peel remains as clueless as ever ...

Okay HUNsters, wrap it up now ... and be quick about it ...

  1. Hahaha because if Clinton is indicted, there sure won't be any multi-state winning democratic socialist alternative candidates waiting to take the nomination. Yeah sure they'll need Biden at that point. LMFAO. I've seen better speculative fiction written by year sevens than what this clown produces.

    1. I've read far, far too much Alternate History SF, and among the worst is that which is written as obvious political wish fulfilment. Case in point...... "Hillary seeks asylum in Cuba" - FFS.

I've never read any of Ferguson's history writing - is it as ploddingly dull as this lame attempt at satire?

    2. Hi Anon,

Ferguson's early stuff was pretty good. "The Pity of War: Explaining World War One" was an interesting attempt to reassess the causes and motivations of all the combatants. You may not agree with all his arguments but it was thought provoking.

In "Empire" he is quite enthusiastic about British Imperialism which is not a popular modern stance but he does make a very valid argument about how the British Empire provided a level of financial investment abroad that has never been replicated.

In "Colossus" the rot has set in. Feted by the right wing establishment in both the UK and the US who evidently like what he has to say, Ferguson makes an argument that the United States should become more imperialistic as this will benefit other nations.

By the time he gets to "The Ascent of Money" he is in total fanboy mode for free market economics and how wonderful the Stock Markets are. I couldn't finish this book and have avoided his output ever since.

I feel vindicated because this piece of contrived "Alternate History/Future" is neither clever, witty or funny. A puerile piece of dross by someone who was once a serious author. Dire!

  2. Well, Niall plagiarizing Eric Blair and indeed virtually quoting the last paragraph of '1984' as though it shows his powerful grasp of erudite irony.

I think when it comes to the delusionista stakes, I prefer the dog-botherer; at least he isn't quite so pretentious (yet !).

  4. One more reason not to support the ALP - their vitriolic and basless attack on the Greens, claiming they have done a deal with the libs on preferences and raising the spectre of a lib/green alliance.

Not true on both counts. Seems the ALP see the Greens as more of a threat to their voter base than the libs. Shameless and pathetic.

    1. The Greens are in for quite a lesson this coming election and after.
