But neither us nor them were taught how to service and repair a motor vehicle).<br /><br />I think the idea is that we're supposed to show enough general curiousity and personal interest in our life circumstances to go and find out for ourselves how the nation state operates. Totally absurd idea of course - getting the average citizen to take an interest in the people, instituions, processes and procedures that control their lives ? Quite ridiculous.<br /><br />And yet you know, some of us studying STEM (before it had been invented, that is), fell victim to an old problem, well summarised as: "For those who will go on to use mathematics professionally, school mathematics teaching is too little, too late.
