But I thought celibacy was already optional within the Catholic church. Doesn't it stem from back in the days when the upper class were all inbred and it was the best way to keep their idiot children from breeding? As you can see, Mark Thompson is a big fan. The junior Jensen on the other hand is backing the other contender - Glenn Davies, a current bishop. Rick is the ultra-conservatives’ choice, but not because he’s more conservative than Davies (there are no gradations of 'conservative' among the Angries), but because he’s young enough to hang around for 20 years and thereby block the rise of the up-and-coming hipster aspirants for longer. The younger set – Jensen jnr and his buddies – want Davies because he is only going to be in the job a few years until retirement and then they can get their man up. Before the candidates were announce there was much earnest discussion (and the survey Adolf mentions) from the ultra-conservatives as to how the age of the next archbishop was so crucial for this blah-reason and that blah-reason. They prophesied that the best age would be…you guessed it.. Rick Smith’s age. They must think all the other Angries are so stupid (and they might be right).
Briannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1462488453822156883.post-17943239524916111962013-06-09T09:15:11.476+10:002013-06-09T09:15:11.476+10:00Kristina Keneally is on the case with Robinson. It's not as if those pedophile priests didn't have mothers and sisters, I guess. Like, wasn't there a chorus from Catholic women and mothers, over the decades it was going on? In fact, DP, would you be so kind as to point to just ONE Catholic woman who went public, or just to the hierarchy, with complaint about crimes against children? It couldn't be, could it, that all those Catholic women, by their silence, were an integral part of the cover-up?
I'm not calling the RCC a cult, but, by gee, it has all the ingredients.
