The book has three policy recommendations: to abolish the Human Rights Commission, to recommence a multi-billion dollar dam-building program and to wind back university access in Australia to the standard set by Keith Murray in his report to the Menzies Government in 1957. As Cater explains it, only “16 percent of the Australian population had the intellectual ability to succeed at university” – a sifting process he supports for today’s tertiary education system. Presumably the money saved from expelling one-third of the student population (reducing the university attainment rate from its current level of 25 percent back to 16 percent) can be spent on new water projects in the nation’s deserts.
Being the second generation of a battler truck and plant driving family who proudly has two daughters with university degrees in education and economics and good careers, all I can say to Cater and Weisser is "fuck you"
Interesting how elitist full time "elite-bashers" like these two would obviously prefer my daughters to be making skinny mocha at their favorite Nth Shore cafe. I'll bet they even have a designer cave in their back yard.
Regards the HRC, I just hope Triggs has the strength to stand up to these vile snobs, even if that little IPA turd Wilson is inside the tent.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1462488453822156883.post-72085319423570736962015-06-09T15:15:28.559+10:002015-06-09T15:15:28.559+10:00Excellent link Anon. The pond waxes and wanes about Mark Latham, but waxed on this bit:

I don’t mind a bit of argy-bargy in politics, but it is impossible to stomach a bunch of North Shore snobs wandering around champagne parties, trying to convince themselves they are born-again egalitarians who have never looked down their pinky-fingers at places like Western Sydney. One would have more respect for Cater and Howard if they spoke truthfully about their own side of politics.

Bien pensants indeed.dorothy parkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00816807935021738560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1462488453822156883.post-44170060701348076932015-06-09T13:08:54.025+10:002015-06-09T13:08:54.025+10:00DP - you recently covered Rebecca Weisser's ef...DP - you recently covered Rebecca Weisser's efforts on the drum.

I'm sure you are aware, but in case you're not she is the partner of Mr Cater:

http://www.chifley.org.au/the-culture-wars-a-second-front/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1462488453822156883.post-68325688822989828732015-06-09T08:32:04.502+10:002015-06-09T08:32:04.502+10:00To the tune of "Car 54 where are you"..
