They weren't only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. All this equality was due to

the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General.

Some things about living still weren't quite right, though. April for instance, still drove people crazy by not being springtime. And it was in that clammy month that the H-G men took George and Hazel Bergeron's fourteen-year-old son, Harrison, away.

It was tragic, all right, but George and Hazel couldn't think about it very hard. Hazel had a perfectly average intelligence, which meant she couldn't think about anything except in short bursts. And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. He was required by

law to wear it at all times. It was tuned to a government transmitter. Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noise to keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains.

George and Hazel were watching television. There were tears on Hazel's cheeks, but she'd forgotten for the moment what they were about.

On the television screen were ballerinas...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1462488453822156883.post-91895104167032162632016-09-28T16:47:28.563+10:002016-09-28T16:47:28.563+10:00Unfortunately I think the Pope cartoon has got it ...Unfortunately I think the Pope cartoon has got it right - Trump has single-handedly invented a new set of rules re the content and style bypasses/counters any kind of now old-style way of conducting election campaigns.

Meanwhile one of the zombies that infest Quadrant has written a piece which ends with the assertion that the Chump is the only one who can "save" or make-America-great-again, and be simultaneously beneficial to the entire world. He came across as a man bursting with emotion, energy and ideas, where Clinton recited the correct buzzwords and acted out the right script for the press, saying very little to the most substantive questions. Usually so voluble, all she could say was a brief inaudible mumble and lets move on.

Last Monday's program was even funnier than usual because it seems unknown to Amanda one side of a conversation about the plebiscite and the politics of this was broadcast over the top of her interview and it was louder than the official interview.

I couldn't identify the male voice or the cough but it was obvious he didn't know he was being broadcast live.

He said at one stage something like, lets cross to Brisbane it's a more interesting show there. Lots of coughing and then one side of a really good discussion of what was going on between labor and libs on the plebiscite.
