In which the pond rounds out Friday with a few light comedy stylings courtesy the Donald and the WSJ ...

It seems that the reptiles are very slowly beginning to understand that all might not be entirely well with the Donald …even the most devout Murdochians …

Currently the pond oscillates between thinking that at least the Chinese do better food - never mind the authoritarian state - and so do the Mexicans - never mind the drug wars - though the pond isn't sure that Canada does food at all, so perhaps that's not the best way to judge matters

On a good day the pond hopes Europe might survive the populist authoritarian movements currently erupting like sun spots - the French, the Italians and the Spanish know how to do food, though the less said about the pond's connection to German food the better …

Whatever, the pond has given up on the United States. It's about the last place the pond would want to visit, and now looks on its surreal, divided landscape as principally a form of entertainment.

Not the movies and television kind - they can't keep up with the cavortings of a corrupt reality TV star - and the reptiles scribbling about him are apparently unaware their job is the same as scribbling a daily commentary on the Jerry Springer show …

With the tariff wars getting closer by the day, it's left to the cartoonists to evoke the sense of Weimar the pond sniffs in the air …

It seems that Walter Russell Mead is the canary in the WSJ coal mine, singing a worrisome song …

Hard-nosed foreign-policy realism?

That's what you call a moron who doesn't have a clue? That's how you talk about an authoritarian with a deep love of fellow authoritarians, no matter what they might have been up to?

Forget the war with Europe for a moment, a loon who can pick a fight with Canadians is quite a piece of work.

The pond doesn't usually rely on Morning Joe for its information - the pond remembers the days when Joe used to smarm up to the Donald - but this set of charts made for amusing viewing …

Yep, it's a laugh a minute, and it's going to get even funnier if a full-on trade war erupts …then we'll see where idle chatter about hard-nosed foreign-policy realism lands the planet ...

Meanwhile enjoy the Comedy Joe stylings here …

  1. Walter Mead: "The author of 'The Art of the Deal' ..."

When will these numbskulls get it through their numb skulls that Donny Trump did not write 'The Art of the Deal'. He didn't even verbally co-write it. Sheesh.
