In which Polonius goes pragmatic ...

Dammit, the pond will have its Polonius and his prattle, even if he's dropped down the pond charts on a Saturday ...

The minute the pond saw "pragmatic" in Polonius's headline, it was drawn back in time to the pragmatic Mr Carr scribbling for the reptiles ...

Mr NSW infrastructure man Carr went on and on - the rest can be found by googling - but he didn't get down and dirty with what the pond most loves from Polonius ... a pedantic history lesson, with much clucking of tongue and shaking of head ...

Point of order m'lud. Speaking of Mao, the pond can't recall the allies getting too agitated about Uncle Joe killing millions, not when they needed a hand  defeating the fascists in the second world war.

Righteousness went out the window, and after the farmers and the miners banked squillions from the Chinese, did Gina go about getting agitated about Mao? How else could she afford to slip Barners a handy little 40k tip?

Come to think of it, there's not too many that get agitated about a pussy-groping President who wants to be best chums with a Russian dictator notorious for the arranging of the killing of journalists and fucking up American elections ...

The Donald seems to spend a lot of time getting agitated about a lot of things, but there's nary a bad word about Vlad the impaler ...

Up against all that it seems a tad late to get worried about the madness of Mao alone ... but the reptiles are determined to get agitated about the Chinese, with our man of the bridge, Monsieur Dupont, also chipping in this day ...

Indeed, indeed, and with our pussies groped, the United States has embarked on a mission to keep Australia a supine, compliant, an always reliable state ... perhaps we should be a tad careful ...

But of course such talk is heresy to Polonius, who does so love Americans who like to hang around with Duterte, Erdogan and Putin, though they seem to have regular lovers' tiffs about something or other ...

You won't find our man Polonius with a cross word to be said about the man child pussy groping narcissist president ... oh you might find lefties upset with him, but how he resonates in the region ...

Indeed, indeed, the pond can't think of a single reason why Donald Trump's United States might ever, in any way, be regarded as dangerous, or work against Australia's interests.

America first, and everywhere else second, and if Australia clocks in at about ten, where's the harm with that?

Forward, currency lads and lasses, and embrace the pussy groper, who is currently doing such splendid things for America ... and for the world ... as once again the pragmatic Polonius sets the pond back on the straight and the narrow and the neutral ...

  2. Hmmm, so Prattling Polonius reckons that "Mao's regime brought about 40 million deaths between 1958 and 1962". Fascinating ... that's an average of 8 million deaths per year. And yet China's population increased from 562 million in 1950 to 716 million in 1965 which is an average of 9.6 million per year. So does that mean that even with Mao's famine, 17.6 million Chinese were born on average each year from 1958 to 1962 inclusive ? Puzzling, isn't it.

But here's something: during most of John Howard's prime ministership (1997 to 2007), Australia experienced 1.44 million deaths or about 131,000 per year. But in 1997, Australia's population was only 18.2 million so 131,000 deaths was 0.72% of the population. But the loss of 8 million Chinese in 1960 came from a Chinese population of 652 million, or about 1.2%.

Therefore, Howard was not as successful as Mao at population control.
