In which the Oz editorialist is a very naughty reptile and deserves a verbal thrashing...

The pond has been there many times before, but feels the need to go there again this day, because of late the reptiles have been getting very agitated about the NBN ... with the HUNsters starting off the Murdochian bush chorus ...

The pond does its best to ignore it, though it sticks very deep in the craw ... and then came this from the slow-moving lizards of Oz as they caught up with the HUNsters ...

The pond can take only so much of this, having tracked the many ways that the Murdochian reptiles have helped - nay demanded - that a fucked-up, second rate pile of copper and HFC-laden junk be used across the land ... while all the while dissembling ...

Here at The Conversation in 2013 for that ... and then came the lizards of Oz google splash ...

Oh choke on your vomit, you pathetic reptiles, say what?

"The Australian, while always strongly favouring faster internet ..."

Strongly favouring?!

You rogues, you charlatans, you frauds, you cheats, you wretched appalling sycophants and forelock tuggers, you dissemblers, you pedlars of revisionist history in the Donald style of outright lying, fabrication and falsehood ...

Here at the Graudian for more of the wicked man's malicious lying, and as for that talk of it being great for Foxtel, we know where their business plan led them ... into one of the great - if great means pathetic - fuck-ups, and alienation of customer affections, in recent times ...

The pond had a recent, albeit brief encounter with Foxtel.

Clunky interface, shithouse visual quality, and an sense of antique verging on ancient technology completely out of touch with what's happening on the intertubes ...it's woefully out of touch and out of date, all the more so as YouTube boosts the quality of its delivery and keeps on shamelessly pirating content ...

How richly pathetic was the GOT gotcha moment?

Well head off to Mumbrella for the five stages of grief in dealing with the fuck-up, where interalia, this was noted ...

How did this happen? Foxtel’s systems usually handle around 5,000 processes a day, but on Monday they were hit with 70,000 transactions in just a few hours. Unprecedented, maybe. But unexpected? Not so much. Result: an unintelligible error message reading, “Unknown copy for key (SR101_tile)”. Was that Dothraki?
So when Foxtel’s system crashed around 7pm, we did what any self-respecting, bereavement-driven fans would do – we took to Twitter to publicly act out the five stages of grief and loss. First there was denial. The Foxtel Now site had 2.3 million page views, with people spending an average of 12 minutes waiting in vain on the failed site.

70,000 transactions and they blew a fuse? And they usually do only 5,000 processes a day? That's the intertubes at work in Murdochian la la land?

Now the pond makes no secret that its current solution is to download shows and watch them at leisure (indeed the Shield and Plex people probably owe the pond a fortune for all the plugs they've been given).

The pond isn't opposed to paying, when and if a decent service with a good catalogue lands in country (that doesn't include you Netflix at the moment, you deserve all the spoofing to access US content that you get).

But the pond does reserve a special cheer for when any Twentieth Century Fox product turns up on the box ...

Meanwhile, speaking of dissembling monstrous lying, it's probably about now that the pond should trot out the actual lizard Oz editorial, full of sanctimonious, righteous humbug ...

The core problem?

The core problem is that the lizards of Oz and other Murdochian cheerleaders spent a decade saying that copper and HFC would do just fine and everything would be jim dandy with FTTN and mixed technology delivery ...

Of course it would be better if Comrade Chris Mitchell had returned to scribble all that self-serving bullshit about Cuba, as if fibre v copper, FTTN v FTTH has got something to do with socialism. Presumably the dear lad is still off busy finding his long-lost Order of Lenin ...

But please allow the pond to explain to the reptiles that the reason the pond anticipates a drop in service in its neighbourhood when the NBN takes over the HFC cable. It's not to do with pricing, it's to do with the way everybody in the area will be forced on to the one cable, which is singularly unsuited to an increase in demand, something which becomes most obvious during periods of peak usage ...

Call it the Foxtel effect, oh dear sweet fuckwitted luddite reptiles ...

Ah the good old days, when the reptiles and the coalition futtocked around explaining how speed didn't matter, the same way that size didn't count if you knew what to do with it ... as recorded here ...

Anybody wanting Malware's "clarification" can follow the link, but the pond was overcome by nausea, retching and a fainting fit ...

And now the reptiles are boasting about how their model would have been better?

They never had a fucking model, they had the onion muncher, the forelock tugging quisling sell-out Malware, and a stern master ...

Oh the infamy, oh the shame, oh the ruin, though it has to be said that Fox has done an even better job of ruining the United States, with more Pat cartoons here ...

  1. Rupert's motives are clear & Truffles is just licking the master's fingers, however, the likes of Abbott & Brandis seem genuinely clueless. Using the legacy network is like putting a replacement motor in your 1990 Magna - even after spending your money you still have a heap of junk.

When the build was just starting, the reptiles could rely on the unwillingness of their readers to check any of the facts, but at some point most of them will run into the reality of poor reliability & bandwidth problems - the lie becomes much harder to sell.

People who should know tell me that the copper will have to be over-built in the short term in any case. So much for our infrastructure (ex) Prime Minister.

    1. Another Magna hater? The pond has many friends in that club ...though there'll be many more coming to hate News Corp and Malware for their dirty deeds ...

    2. Well there you go, I always thought it was the Leyland P76 that everybody hated. Anybody who buys a Mitsubishi gets exactly what they've paid for.

  2. "There is no doubt many rural and regional consumers will enjoy vastly improved services - faster and more reliable, courtesy of the NBN."

Just spent the weekend in regional Shepparton (NBN afflicted quite some months ago)as dear wife had to complete a relative/business clients annual accounts and BAS.
Impossible to interface with any fucking thing basically, let alone the ATO for lodgement.

The TAB could not even stream a fucking horse race and Netflix was unattainable. I am a tech idiot who just googled speed test.

    9.40pm. Sat. Broadband speed test...0.46Mbps
    11.55am Sun. " " " ...0.23Mbps (0.53Mbps upload.)

    Back in Melb. - ADSL2....7.25pm.Sun.....33.09Mbps.
    Die Rupert die!

  3. I say Rupert Murdoch is an evil man just look at what is happening in America and other countries that he has reach in.
But the origins of this corrupt system was bestowed on Australia by Rupert's father and pig iron Bob they conspired to develop the IPA in those years and out of that came liberal party platform and what we see now is this creeping right wing organisation infiltrating our media systems to promote their ideology not just through what Rupert owns or controls but his many agents having access to the ABC who now dare not have a show without a contribution from Murdoch's parasites.

  5. I say that "America and other countries" are evil (or at least piss weak) because they not only allow Murdoch total freedom to do his thing, they also subsidise him.

If a 'dual citizenship' person isn't allowed into the Aussie Senate, then why is a 'dual citizenship' oligarch allowed to own the majority of Australia's 'free to consumers' media ? Or has Rupert actually revoked his Aussie citizenship and is therefore just a foreigner ?

[ I call it "free to consumer" because although the Faux Noise likes to put a sale price on their dead tree products, most of them are given away for free. ]
