In which the pond indulges in a late final extra edition of heart of Devine darkness ...

The pond operates on the fundamental scientific principle that it is impossible to have enough of the Devine ...

So the Devine prattling about Trumpism is simply not enough Devinism in a single day for anyone with normal, healthy human appetites ...

And so as a late-breaking final extra ...

Ah those were the days ... eek, the Beatles ...

...though it's best to keep in mind, after the screaming and songs about love die away, that all this is being written by a fundamentalist Catholic bigot, ruthlessly and relentlessly opposed to the notion of SSM.

Think of that as the sauce of hypocrisy to add to the goose of prejudice ...

Well yes, that's rich and juicy, and the thought of the Devine uniting around such a fundamental societal change had the pond rolling the Jaffas down the aisle ...

It might be recalled that the Devine's portfolio of foaming and frothing includes many tremendous headlines suggesting her willingness to unite ...

Ah yes, the ruination of the most important institution. How much more could a koala bear bear?

And then there's the routine seizing on any angle to berate, generate fear and loathing and otherwise demean and diminish:

But let's not stop there, let's roll out the standard talk of fascists because the first thing anyone thinks of when it comes to homosexuality is totalitarianism.

Why the very notion of tolerance is simply too much for the Devine bear to bear ...

But enough of the Devine grand tour, because we could be doing that for hours, or perhaps years.

Instead we return to marvel at the wondrous lack of consistency in the Devine, talking of how all would be well if only she'd had a chance to campaign in the plebiscite in the same splendid way she's managed over the years ...

Of course the pond could just imagine the Devine sharing crocodile tears about same sex marriage, though in another of her stories, a little hoppy toad popped out ...

Yes, deep in her heart, she really did hope that perhaps SSM might not win out, and of course, if it didn't win out, it wouldn't be the fault of bigots like her and the onion muncher, but rather those that pushed too hard ...

Being a fundamentalist bigot, the Devine thrives on the hate.

This sort of Mumbrella story here is grist to her mill of outrage...

Ah yes, why are they so afraid of letting the people decide and the Devine spew bile?

To which many people might think that the Devine could oblige by taking her hypocritical pretence that she gives a damn and shove it...

Why bother to pretend, when really she's now dancing in the street with Cory and George and the rest of the fundamentalists, and can go on writing about the gays and their fascist and Daesh tactics until the cows come home ...

Never mind, think of it as the dracunculus vulgaris, there's such sweet putrefaction from a daily application of essence of heart of darkness ...

And they wonder why the music gets washed out ...

  1. "And then there's the routine seizing on any angle"... eg: Devine's Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana - "The only family is the traditional one."

Wily old Erica employs his own related angle:

QUENTIN MCDERMOTT: Senator Abetz is keen to introduce us to his political advisor, Josh Manuatu, who last year told him he is gay.

ERIC ABETZ: What I didn't know at the time that Josh was identifying as same sex attracted and when he told me that was the case I said "look fine thanks for telling me, nice to know" and I think we shook hands and that was it, it was a relatively brief conversation and from my perspective it changed nothing...

JOSH: It was not anything spectacular I think there's more shock and outrage from people when I say I work for Senator Abetz and I'm gay than what there was in the conversation or since.

QUENTIN MCDERMOTT: Can I ask you this? You say gay, you say same sex attracted, do you have arguments about this, about the language?

    JOSH: Not at all.

QUENTIN MCDERMOTT: Josh doesn't want to marry. He doesn't want the definition of marriage to be changed. And he's angry at how Senator Abetz was lambasted for remarking that not all same sex couples wish to marry.

JOSH: I was getting sick and tired of people saying if you don't support same sex marriage then you are homophobic... I thought it was important that he knew there were people like me in the gay community who don't support a change in the definition and seeing somebody that I work for, that I look up to, that I admire, getting absolutely attacked in the media...was difficult and I thought was important that people like me take a more active role in trying to build the case and make it clear our position.

  2. She wasn't this bad back in her Fairfax days, as far as I can recall. There's nothing quite like being Murdoch-ratted to release the inner demons, is there.

Is this what The Devils of Loudon was really all about ? But no, they only feigned madness, didn't they.

  3. The Murdoch press has often had headlines beginning "Suffer the children..." as here. It sounds like the children are suffering. But in the holy book the word 'suffer' means 'allow' as in "Allow the children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of god.'

I suspect that these morally high flying Murdoch scribblers do not read the holy book...or is it that they are not allowed to.

    1. You don't reckon then that they try, but they only ever got to 5th grade reading standard and then they weren't allowed back in school because they brought down the NAPLAN score, perhaps ?
