Stupid people supporting a dangerous man ...

The pond woke up this morning to hear Fran Kelly on RN citing the Drudge Report as an authoritative source on the matter of the presidential debate.

Surprisingly, apparently the Drudgers thought the Trumpster won.

It doesn't get much sillier than that, and it explains why the pond rarely listens to Kelly these days ...

But in the same spirit, the pond must report on the reports of the local Drudges, and is there a bigger dirge of drudge than the Bromancer, dubbing Trump the everyman?

Well it's a duty, and while the pond didn't actually watch the debate, it must perforce report the reptile view ...

Phew, around this point the pond experienced the usual disconnect with reality.

All hail the Donald for winning with outrageous pandering and the lie at the heart of assorted appeals ... and apparently the more powerful and straightforward the lie, the more the candidate is to be applauded ...

So it goes ...

It probably favours the challenger ... now in the world of the pond, there are two contestants and no incumbents, but that's the drudge you get when you read the bromancer ...

Well after that gruesomely compelling column, it's probably the right time for a break and a Pope cartoon, and more Pope here, before the interminable suffering is renewed ...

Meanwhile, there are those who would take a knife to a cat fight, but the pond would always prefer to take a Devine ...

There's always something compelling watching the stupid scribble in support of the stupid, a bit like Cory revealing his inner and outer Hanson ...

And there you have it.

Ugh, it seems, is the most perfect Devine exclamation when wanting to make a point in a debate.

Sucks boo bum potty mouth might also qualify, but hey nonny no, on we go with the riveting performance, as the Devine makes clear her intense dislike of swots (education, who needs that shit?) and red pantsuits ...

Phew around this point, we probably need a cartoon break ... and what better way to do it than with a Rowe, and as always more Rowe here ...

Oops, that's probably a bit cruel, because the Devine's wrap up also features a cartoon ...

And what an unfortunate cartoon it is, somewhere between mindless hagiography and a Mad magazine caricature ...

Now there's a stupid woman in full flight, facilitating and enabling and endorsing, and then attempting to blame the monster she loves on 'leets and liberals.

Why does she so love a barbarian and his many assorted barbarities?

Why do you ask?

Soul mates.

And so to a final look at the debate, and then, provided the reptiles release no more columns celebrating barbarism, the pond will talk no more of this debate as it retches its way into history ...

  1. Introduced this morning on Rightly Nuanced by their Fran Kelly as former ALP opposotion leader and former Australian Ambassador to Amerika, but not as currently being Raytheon's number one man in Australia, the Bomber Beasley dumps on Trump and backs in Killiary. Wow, who'd a guessed he'd see it that way? For one, mass murdering corporate warpig Raytheon wouldn't have had to guess how "me too" Bomber would swing...

"What gave Trump the lead was his demeanor and approach. He came across as a man bursting with emotion, energy and ideas, where Clinton recited the correct buzzwords and acted out the right script for the press, saying very little to the most substantive questions. Her attitude had the “we can handle this” vibe that is familiar from every high school principle, middle manager and press secretary, implying an odious concealment of the actual issues."

"She answered every question directly with “something,” but that was almost always generalities composed of strong visual images that seem tangible until you realize that they are super-over-simplifications. She sounded like every high school principal and A-student girl in high school, always knowing the right thing to say, but entirely uncaring about how it would in application. She is all image and no substance, which means “totally untrustworthy” and creepy to boot."

    3. HARRISON BERGERON

by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. [A freetext is linked under conservative-friendly books here, and philosophical arguments here ]

THE YEAR WAS 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren't only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. All this equality was due to

the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General.

Some things about living still weren't quite right, though. April for instance, still drove people crazy by not being springtime. And it was in that clammy month that the H-G men took George and Hazel Bergeron's fourteen-year-old son, Harrison, away.

It was tragic, all right, but George and Hazel couldn't think about it very hard. Hazel had a perfectly average intelligence, which meant she couldn't think about anything except in short bursts. And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. He was required by

law to wear it at all times. It was tuned to a government transmitter. Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noise to keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains.

George and Hazel were watching television. There were tears on Hazel's cheeks, but she'd forgotten for the moment what they were about.

On the television screen were ballerinas...

    4. That isn't equality; that is stupidity and a lack of any understanding of what equality could look like for people who like other people rather than regarding themselves as the default human.

  2. Ah well I suppose that The Drudge Report is an "authoritative source" to the Fran Kellys of this "sick, sad world" (yay Daria !)

I used to listen to RN Breakfast (and Daybreak before that) too, however I gave up very quickly on the 'idiot non-savant' once she took over. But then, just consider the list of RN Breakfast hosts:
Fran Kelly March 2005 - present
    Peter Thompson January 1994 – December 1999, January 2003 - December 2004
    Vivian Schenker January 2000 - December 2002
And before that, the wonderful Pru Goward who had such a respectful relationship with her almost namesake.

The only time RN Breakfast was at all listenable was the odd few times that Norman Swan did stand-in duty. I used to hope that Fran would be sick, or on holiday, but then all that mostly meant was Geraldine, not Norman.

    1. I find The Doogue and her simpering simplistic version of what a right thinking rational educated and superior women would think even funnier - well you gotta laugh or you go mad - than the oh so not subtle Fran Kelly who can't hide her easily raised hackles when guests do not toe the nuanced but always sensible line of the well off white woman who knows and likes stuff.

But the funniest of them all was Amanda Vanstone when her guest last Monday on Counterpoint, did not have very nice things to say about the Major Mitchel of the Order of Lenin fame and the paucity of interesting anecdotes in his recent book. Usually so voluble, all she could say was a brief inaudible mumble and lets move on.

Last Monday's program was even funnier than usual because it seems unknown to Amanda one side of a conversation about the plebiscite and the politics of this was broadcast over the top of her interview and it was louder than the official interview.

I couldn't identify the male voice or the cough but it was obvious he didn't know he was being broadcast live.

He said at one stage something like, lets cross to Brisbane it's a more interesting show there. Lots of coughing and then one side of a really good discussion of what was going on between labor and libs on the plebiscite.

  3. I listened to the debate yesterday. And enjoyed it. It was different. Cage fighting at times.

    Clinton was the clear winner.

    Then I read Sheridan.

    By golly!

But what if he is right? Maybe Trump's supporters, the disenfranchised, will only hear the anti-globalization-job-stealing message? Maybe the long time Republicans are nodding their head in approval that it is smart not to pay taxes?

And isn't it interesting that the 'left-wing' candidate was wearing Internationale scarlet instead of Democrat Blue and supported free trade agreements while the 'conservative' candidate wore an Abbott blue tie instead of Republican Red and wanted to put FTAs on a pyre.

    The old divides have gone.

    2. I think they go until the key in the back needs to be turned.

Did you all see that US polls have judged Trump to be the winner.

I am going to start digging the bunker.

  4. I don't know on what planet the earnest and soul selling Sheridan was on and what debate he watched but it certainly wasn't the same as me.
Rupert has called him and he has written what he was told to.

  5. Unfortunately I think the Pope cartoon has got it right - Trump has single-handedly invented a new set of rules re the content and style bypasses/counters any kind of now old-style way of conducting election campaigns.

Meanwhile one of the zombies that infest Quadrant has written a piece which ends with the assertion that the Chump is the only one who can "save" or make-America-great-again, and be simultaneously beneficial to the entire world. But that is now part of the accepted "wisdom" of many of the Quadrant zombies -especially Darryl McCann.
