Another reptile double bunger, with defence and climate science sorted ....

The pond makes no apology for its strident argument, with double bunger force, that Saturday is the best of all days for reptile watching ...

And perforce the pond goes where the hits can be found.

The bromancer, with his rousing calls to arms for the defence of Australia, has been a big hit of late on the pond, and now who could fail to be excited by his campaign for Soviet-style government construction program, with brave poodle at the helm...

Rousing stuff. Is it any wonder that the pond felt inspired? The internet to invent the modern world! And thanks to the reptiles and Malware Australia has now got a revolutionary intertubes!

Copper!

Is there any wonder we look forward?

On we march, and with fearless Comrade Poodle showing us and the bromancer the way...

Indeed, indeed ...a continuous build, never goes out of business, a thousand year reich of sub building ...

Now for those agitated that the pond has recycled a cultural revolution poster - even though a cultural revolution is required - let the pond hastily add an explanation ...

Yes, while some no hopers attribute that saying to Laozi, Lao Tzu if you will, it was of course a favourite saying of a certain chairman much plastered on posters and T-shirts ...

But wait, there's more.

At a time when Chris Kenny embraces Malcolm Roberts - what does the dog botherer think of the role the Rothschilds, the bankers and the UN play in the conspiracy of climate science? - Graham Lloyd seems to want to come in from the cold ...

Now some might think this is a wake-up call for reptiles, especially as Lloydie is always adept at recycling saucy doubts and fears, peddling uncertainties, and dog whistling to the denialists ... so the pond was keen to see how he'd manage the latest news ...

Well indeed, it's clear that all this devious modelling has worked magic tricks, making data and trends appear and disappear like Penn and Teller at a libertarian convention ...

It's remarkable thing to see, with an extremely deceptive impact on the imagination, and something certain to be a part of climate denialist blogs around the world for months to come, willing in blank spaces and using proxies and so forth and etc (by golly those bankers and the UN are clever) ...

And there was the pond thinking the science had been sorted back in 2014 ...

But for all this dancing on a pin, Lloydie shows an alarming gullibility the further he gets into his report ... though luckily not everyone is impressed, and so the saucy doubts and fears can continue to circle ...

NASA? NASA!?!

Yes, let's ask the audience.

Reminds the pond of the time the Q and A audience disproved evolution, gravity and Einstein all in a sentence or two.

Nothing like asking the audience to sort out a bit of science.

Oh wait, as we've got an expert, let's just ask the expert ...

Steve Goddard? This Steve Goddard, much loved by denialist blogs...

Well frankly he's not a patch on our very own main man ...

Well that's not the only one our main man was quoting ...

Here for the rest of the story and the links ...

Never mind, time to wrap things up, first with NASA ...

Strange? Strange?!?

Clearly not a reptile reader, and so to the final Lloydie gobbet this day ...

Yes, that's a nicely ambivalent closer.

If they materialise, they won't be welcomed as any cause for celebration, because either (a) it'll be a black eye for the UN, the bankers and NASA or (b) they'll still keep on yammering on about climate change even as they keep fiddling with the data and the science to produce a chimera of nonsense ...

Oh okay, he could mean if the temperatures decline, it might only be relative, and they might still keep climbing in a relative way which will hardly be a cause for celebration, and so sadly, the pond has to judge Lloydie's piece a fail in terms of service to the reptile cause of copper and confusion...

There's simply not enough FUD, and a fog of questioning over data, modelling and the whole damn thing ...

And taken in conjunction with the bromancer going socialist five year plan - heck, a hundred year plan - the pond is seriously disturbed at what it might be that they're slipping into the Surry Hills bunker these days ...

No, no, DP, it's a Great leap Forward ! You don't want to put a time limit on these things because you never know just how long they'll take. Consider the NBN for example.

And, BTW, it isn't a 1000 mile journey, it's a 1000 Li journey, and a Li is standardised at 500m = 1/2 Kilometre. It is therefore, actually, a 310.6856 mile journey. If we're to keep up the great tradition of the Polonial Prattler, we've got to get these things 100% accu-rat, or we might continue to be subject to some horrible histories.

    1. The pond is ever so grateful for the accurate measurement GB ...

    2. Nothing less than my bounden duty, DP. We have to stay fully competitve is this fact dominated world.

And also, thanks for the Rosie the Rivetter' pics, I haven't seen any of them in decades (basically because I never think to go looking for them). Now my recall is that Rosie was basically a housewifely type who never rivetted anything in her entire life, so she was perfect for the role.

  2. Struth, I've never heard Pyne described in such glowing terms! Abbott will be jealous - the Bro appears to be transferring his affections to the Poodle....

But great ideas, Bromancer! Yes, that's how to built a vibrant manufacturing economy - join the Merchants of Death! That's just what this world needs - more overpriced, overhyped military hardware.

  3. Hi Dorothy,

Oh Dear! Somebody has been briefing Sheridan again (probably somebody from The Poodle's camp) and the Bromancer is clearly very excited.

Spending hundreds of billions on military hardware is now the way forward for the country to earn ..er... millions as a repair hub.

Indeed so good and worthy is this spending that only a tiny elite of advanced techies will be required to complete it but of course they won't actually work on any of the advanced technology as that gets shipped back to the US as "Black Box Technology".

Sheridan again shows that his knowledge of economics is as fantastical as his understanding of foreign affairs.

    1. You mean it's not a meritocracy? Well bugger me.

    2. Err, yes it is a meritocracy, Anony, it's just that there's absolutely no merit in it.

    3. And, the Bromancer wants us to spend hundreds of millions boosting the profits of GM, Ford and Toyota.

Which I guess just goes to prove that, when all is said and done, an economy is nothing more than people spending money. That is, a globalised economy is just a whole bunch of folks eking out a living taking in each others washing.

  4. All right-thinking Worlds-Greatest-Climate-Scientists like Roberts, Moorice, the Bolter etc despise mathematical modelling. And they love the University of Alabama-Huntsville satellite temperature data (from Worlds-Greatest-Scientist Roy Spencer) which continues to show "the pause", proving that ground-based measurements have been manipulated by the conspiracy (I see even "collaboration" is being reframed as a dirty word).

The paradox here is that those UAH data are not Roberts-standard "empirical data", but the output of a mathematical model...four legs good, two legs bad...err better...err....
