Day 79 of MUC and day 32 of MOC, as the pond is redeemed and informed by a Moorice visitation ...

What a relief. Today the Government Gazette has decided the donkeys need a carrot - enough with the stick already - and so are channeling the trickle down man in an EXCLUSIVE ...

Yes, it's a good serve of pie in the sky bye and bye, and faithful government recorder and reptile correspondent Chris Murphy was standing by to write up the bill of sale ...

Look, there in the corner, it's a hundred dollar bill. Compelling numbers!

What more could you want? Pick it up, sniff it, run it through your fingers, toss it in your hair, how good it feels, and now, there's that matter of your vote ...

But sadly the pond couldn't keep contemplating all this, because there was a bigger fish to fry.

Whenever Moorice speaks, the pond comes to a screeching halt. Hold the front page, toss the anchor overboard, the master is on the prowl, and he wants to regain his rightful place at the top of the pond's banner ...

This assumes, of course, that the west's silent majority is bigoted, racist and sexist, and with a taste for bullying and braggadocio but never fear, Moorice knows all about that ...

Now please, don your aluminium foil hat - an inverted stainless steel draining bowl is only allowable if correct technology is not to hand - as we plunge into Moorice's world ...

Now some might think this suggests that Moorice is the wrong person fighting for the wrong causes, but this would entirely miss the point - what's not to celebrate at the sight of a doddery old member of the 'leet, former chairman of the ABC no less, and diligent digger for coal, angrily shouting at 'leet clouds passing overhead ...

But around this point, there are probably a few who'd like to see a little lightness, a ray of laughter in the bleak black clouds ...

Yes, there's more at The New Yorker - the original here - and while the pond stays true to tree killing, there's a lot to be said for digital access - the pond was only just catching up on Jane Mayer's Sting of Myself Amateurish spies like James O'Keefe III attempt to sway the 2016 campaign, long after it began to fill up the full to overflowing intertubes.

Lucky it's outside the paywall for the moment, for anyone wanting to discover yet again how weird the United States is when it comes to looking at the viruses that line the stomach and the bowels of the body politic of that country ...

But enough of the good old USA and lawyer jokes - the pond points out it hasn't mentioned Shakespeare and first kill them all, for we must return to our very own virus, for whom penicillin long ago proved useless ...

Oh indeed, indeed, and thanks to Joe Aston at the AFR, the pond has received a report on where these dangerous courageous political disrupters meet to plot the overthrow of the dangerous 'leets ...

Indeed, indeed, the pond has seen that movie before ...

Never mind, once again the pond has been blessed by Moorice worrying about climate policies affecting the poor ...

By the way, it's best to do the worrying at one of Neil Perry's restaurants - hurry, Rockpool is closing soon, with a new chaff bag opening, but in the meantime, for a humble lunch, you can pick up a Moreton Bay Bug strozzapreti pasta with crustacean butter for a modest $55 bucks ...

And if you can't abide seafood, how about a bit of hoof and turf? The dry aged Cape Grim beef rib eye with cress salad, hoisin and black vinegar is a snap at $70 ... or you could try the long lunch for a tempting $160.

You can talk about the dangers confronting the poor and wash it all down with a glass of champers - have you considered the 2006 Pol Roger at $49 the glass?

But enough food and wine porn, the pond once more has been blessed just to sit at the same table as Moorice and learn from his learned discourse ... these moments with the world's greatest climate scientist are refreshing and invigorating and so informative ... (and more New Yorker cartoons here).

  1. Careful Dorothy, we're in an election campaign, so 'Government Gazette' should strictly be 'Caretaker Government Gazette' or even 'Liberal Party Gazette'.

Or maybe it should 'be strictly'? That would be more perfect.

  3. Moorice spins his wheels all afire while standing firm as unyielding rock on the state of the political consciousness of the delusionally misunderestimated masses he knows so well. Again. Please, mister Moorice, please give us some more "Hard Rock And Psychedelia - (we're) Not Strange Bedfellows After All..." it's music to ours ears.

    One for Moorice then:

From Wheels of Fire? -"Politician" contains yet another amazing riff and amusing lyrics...

Good stuff! And here's a couple of tracks going out for the politically hard core demented masess, for all loons rocking on to a far out anti-establishment psychedelia in hard solidarity with old off his rocker Moorice awaiting a courageous loonabilly disrupter, an anti-leet loonabilly leader worthy of the title. Yes, it's SCREAMING Lord Sutch And The Savages with LOONABILLY and LOONY ROCK
