Day 29, and the reptiles are nervous at the long haul, the distance, and the freight to be carried ...

The pond is extremely worried about the mental health of its reptiles. 74 days to go ... but already the Bolter is showing signs of returning to his healthy blue glow ...

Phew that's a relief. There's something to be said of Malware after all. He's not Bill Shorten ... and he's not John Hewson...

Oh wait, hang on, there's an update ...

Oh dear ... but what of the other reptiles?

Well the pond thinks of their outing today as being subdued, perhaps even worried ...

You see, it's a gamble ...

Phew, thanks comrades for that of advertising. Every little bit to keep the glorious, successful and consummate reptile broadsheet afloat is much appreciated ...

But look how tepid the reptiles are. There's none of the euphoria that greeted the start of the last campaign. Instead it's desultory and mixed ... they sense a long hard slog, up there with Mao's march perhaps ...

Oh no, not another story about ScoMo as leader just before the budget.

All that's left is anxiety about the budget itself ... and the ancient art of poking a stick at the Fairfaxians ...

And then there was the oscillating fan ...

Say no more. Fear, worry, smugness, complacency.

As for the top of the page early this day ...

Did it get any better later on?

Not really, but the pond admired the early morning attempt by the bouffant one to whip up the troops, even if he too showed signs of nervousness...

It all came down to that ScoMo thingie due shortly ...

Yes, the reptiles are nervous. It's a gamble and there's that enormous unseen card soon to drop on the table ...

In the meantime, what's the bouffant one got in his hand?

That's it?

Stephen "let's have a useless big filter for everyone" Conroy?

Well Conroy is a prize doofus, always has been, and the rotten NBN started under his reign. But in 74 days time, Conroy's lack of discipline will have long faded into the ether.

That's the danger of a 74 day campaign. The reptiles had to clutch at that Conroy straw for the first day of the unofficial official campaign - as opposed to the pond's longer unofficial unofficial campaign - but we're not even the beginning of the main game ... and soon the average voter will run screaming from the room at the very mention of an election.

Who to blame for that phenomenon?

Yes, this is a long haul game, and there's time for plenty of freight to drop off the trucks of all sides ... as Pope so ably noted, with more Pope here ...

  1. The Bolter has been just a little bit 'loony' these last few days, hasn't he.

Maybe the shock of appearing on Pickering's Weakly without being ambushed has unhinged him a little. Couldn't happen to ...

    Conclusion
So, you see, even a gang of libertarian and libertarian-approved thinkers — when properly arranged — can be marshaled to make all the usual anti-capitalist points about coercion and poverty. This is not surprising as these points are exactly correct and even libertarians sometimes tell the truth.
